Pi Toolbox Adds Native Support for Racelogic VBOX Video and Data Files

Cosworth continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in motorsport data analysis, and the latest update to Pi Toolbox is no exception. Engineers, coaches and drivers using Racelogic VBOX Video systems can now bring their video and data files straight into Pi Toolbox – no workarounds, no compromises, and no loss of functionality.

Pi Toolbox now natively opens Racelogic VBOX video and data files, automatically synchronising footage with the corresponding displays the moment a file is loaded. Time-distance charts, histograms and a whole host of other displays will synchronise with the video automatically in either a time or distance domain, removing the manual syncing work that used to slow workflows down.

The update goes beyond simply opening a file - Users can view multiple VBOX video and data sessions side by side – not just two, but even four at once for example. That means a team running several cars, or comparing several drivers, can interrogate data in a single view, spotting variations in braking and throttle application, racing line and overall pace at a glance.

This flexibility extends across formats too. A VBOX data file can be opened alongside a .PDS or .MAT file, or even an iRacing .IBT file, all within the same session. That means teams are no longer limited to comparing like with like – a VBOX-equipped test car can be lined up against simulator data, or against a car running a different logging system entirely, all within a single Pi Toolbox workspace.

Crucially, none of Pi Toolbox's core capability has been restricted when working with VBOX files. Maths channels can be written and applied directly to VBOX data just as they would with any other supported format, and every other tool in the Pi Toolbox suite – from soft events, constants to detailed statistical analysis using Metrics – remains fully available.
