Motorsport specialists are descending on Cologne in Germany for the annual Professional Motorsport World Expo, which takes place from 7-9 November.
Cosworth once again features prominently in Europe’s leading event for motorsport professionals, showcasing the company’s complete range of performance electronics solutions for the industry.
In addition to joining 230 other exhibitors at the Expo, Cosworth will detail its latest motorsport electronics solutions in a presentation delivered by Applications Engineer Rob Morrow towards the culmination of the show.
Rob’s talk explores our work in high-precision EtherCAT data logging and control systems with a particular focus on the solutions we provide to the IndyCar Series and in prototype racing.
Latest generation cars utilise modular system architecture in a concerted bid to reduce weight, cost and complexity in vehicle wiring looms. Cosworth’s Central Logger Unit (CLU) and Synchronous Junction Unit (SJU) deploy EtherCAT communication technology that combine to provide cutting edge logging and control solutions, ideally suited to the rigours of international motorsport.
The CLU has raised the bar with fully synchronous logging of 16-bit analogue inputs, high-rate burst logging, completely customisable control strategies and other market-leading features.
Meanwhile, the SJU is a high expansion I/O module that works in conjunction with the CLU. Perfect for advanced chassis and suspension analysis, the SJU is connected by the EtherCAT protocol and increases bandwidth.
The current generation IC18 IndyCar has made effective use of this potent combination throughout 2018, allowing Cosworth, in turn, to help teams make the most of their technical packages in a highly competitive series.
Rob will also explain how our electronics have unique and proven security locked features that guarantee secure, reliable and fair solutions for teams and manufacturers when accessing multiple control units – for example in series like the FIA World Endurance Championship.
Cosworth can be found at stand 6014 throughout the PMW Expo event.
Rob Morrow will be speaking on Friday 9 November at 10:30 German time.
