The end of January marks one of the most legendary endurance races of the year, the Daytona 24 Hours. This year, Cosworth has a significant involvement in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, with 34 cars running Cosworth’s latest solutions in their pursuit of success in the Rolex 24-hour race – a true testament to the reliability and ruggedness of Cosworth electronics.
Cosworth has enjoyed considerable success in previous outings at the dramatic endurance race: in 2017, all three podium finishers were powered by Cosworth electronics in an event that saw the race-winning team cover 2,346 miles (3,775 kilometres). It was by no means an easy feat and Cosworth’s products proved their robustness and withstood the trying conditions.
What makes this year’s Daytona 24 Hours an unmissable event? The race has attracted superstars from top-tier motorsport series. Two-time Formula 1 World Champion Fernando Alonso, IndyCar champion and winner of the Indy 500 Ryan Hunter-Reay, and current Formula E championship leader Felix Rosenqvist are just some of the additions to the incredible talent on the grid for 2018.
The Prototype class, including the exciting debut for the Acura DPi, continues to be dominated by Cosworth electronics solutions. Entrants in GT Le Mans and GT Daytona classes will also utilise Cosworth’s offerings, such as the proven ICD display and IPS power management system. Cosworth is also proud to have supported a number of competitors using our Diablo advanced wind tunnel control system technology in their aerodynamic development programmes.
With a significant presence across the grid, Cosworth will be present trackside, supporting teams to maximise the potential of the latest electronics products in the demanding environment of endurance racing. Cosworth is excited to be a part of the gruelling, and iconic, Daytona 24 Hours.
