SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER Location: Northampton   COUNTRY: UK

A temporary opportunity has arisen to join our team as a Supplier Quality Engineer. Reporting to the Quality Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for communicating Cosworth’s high quality standards and requirements to new and existing suppliers, working through problems with them and approving them from a Quality, Capacity and Risk point of view.

Cosworth has ambitious growth targets for the Automotive and Aerospace businesses, building on the successful OEM programmes we have already established in Europe and the United States.

We provide the automotive and aerospace sectors with engineering design services which can be combined with manufacturing, development and testing to provide a comprehensive and integrated service. Our Motorsport experience gives us a passion for innovation, performance, reliability and the capacity to deliver to the most demanding deadlines.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Series production supplier approval for product launch
  • Establishing and communicating Pre-production and production supplier requirements
  • Generating goods receiving inspection documents for pre-production and production phases
  • Supplier Quality Assurance activities within the supply chain including: APQP, PPAP, supplier assessment audits and surveillance
  • Working closely with purchasing, manufacturing and design engineers to achieve parts that are cost effective, fit for purpose and to a given required quality standard
  • Proactive & reactive supplier improvement activities, including problem resolution of parts quality issues using 8D and other automotive industry tools
  • Ensuring good control of configuration management with suppliers through product and process changes
  • Managing customer quality requirements that are to be cascaded down the supply chain
  • Monitoring and reporting Supplier status against plans for NPI as well as Production projects

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Must be highly organized, motivated, take-charge individual who has experience managing teams, target goal setting and tracking to plan
  • Knowledge of ISO/AS quality system requirements
  • Must have energy, enthusiasm, drive and a “can do” attitude
  • Must be a hands on individual with a quality mind set for getting it right at first time and have a thrive for continual improvement
  • Attention to detail, analytical and methodical approach to problem solving, excellent document control
  • Must be extremely organised in order to prioritise multiple tasks and execute them within a time frame
  • Must be able to work on own initiative as well as work within a team
  • Capable of handling a diverse range of projects and products simultaneously
  • Ability to achieve personal deadlines and contribute to team objectives
  • Must have excellent I.T. skills to maintain various databases and present quality data in the form of departmental reports
  • QA auditing
  • Excellent oral, written and report writing skills to all levels
  • Able to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences in an appropriate, meaningful and influential manner
