Cosworth pioneered combining video and data to enhance data analysis in motorsport. We currently have exciting opportunities to join our growing team of software test engineers responsible for our next generation video/data acquisition systems.

You will be working with automotive OEMs to develop products that allow motoring enthusiasts to improve their performance on and off track.

As a Cosworth Software Test Engineer, you’ll be involved in all aspects of the software testing life-cycle, from triage and diagnosis, to design and implementation, to execution and reporting. Working out of our Cambridge office, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team committed to delivering quality for one of our largest customers. Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and execute manual and automated test solutions based on product specifications and requirements.
  • Represent the customer during internal product development discussions.
  • Act as first responder, triaging and diagnosing issues raised internally and by the customer.
  • Perform system testing activities using Cosworth test vehicles. This requires a full UK driving licence.
  • Design, develop, commission and maintain laboratory and vehicle test equipment systems.
  • Help to co-ordinate tasks and deliverables for the test engineering group.
  • Liaise with the Programme manager on deliverables for the test group.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Basic electronics experience.
  • Proven understanding of the various testing techniques (Black, White, Grey, Performance, Load, Security).
  • Experience with designing and implementing automating tests.
  • A drive to keep improving yourself and your work.
  • Ability to find system-level test deficiencies and propose effective solutions.
  • Ability to identify root causes and explain ramifications for complex systems.
  • Ability to see things from the perspective of the customer and spot potential problems with new features before they happen.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and team-working skills.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.

Desirable Experience

  • A Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrable track record in test automation and scripting.
  • Experience in CAN bus communications and script development using Vector tools
  • ISEB/ISTQB Certificate in Software Testing
