Cosworth are seeking a Quality Inspector to support their manufacturing operations – predominantly the machining of engine blocks, heads, pistons, cams and cranks. The Final Inspector will work within the Quality team as a final “customer eyes” check before parts are delivered to either internal or external customers.

In addition to ensuring a quality product is received by the customer, data from the findings of the Final Inspector will be used to address quality concerns, drive continuous improvement activities and ensure adherence to Quality Systems within the production environment. This makes this role important in driving a culture of quality in manufacturing.

Specific Responsibilities 

  • Inspect a variety of machined engine components post processing, immediately prior to delivery to the customer. This may include visual inspection, gauge checks, verification of part marking and evaluation of supporting documentation.
  • Record inspection findings and prepare reports for communication across the manufacturing team.
  • Assist in the development of final inspection plans for new projects within manufacturing.
  • Aid 8D problem solving activities for customer concerns.
  • Work alongside Quality Engineers to assist in determining the disposition of parts identified as internal rejects and scrap
    Verification of documentation to ensure Manufacturing teams are operating in line with Cosworth’s defined QMS requirements
  • Any other activities as directed by line manager.

Skills, Qualifications & Attributes

  • Relevant education in an engineering discipline and / or work-related experience within an CNC machining environment.
  • Understanding of core products and processes for engine component manufacture.
  • Experience of hard gauging and basic knowledge of CMM data.
  • Application of engineering drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good time management with an ability to plan and prioritise work.
  • Good PC skills.
