The Engineering Group provides consultancy for the design and development of high performance powertrains for the road and the track. Cosworth is also unique in supporting this consultancy with world class manufacturing from prototype to medium production volumes. The success of this combination means that Cosworth is continuing to expand and we are now recruiting Graduate Engineers.

Our engineering team is structured for fast progress, with there being a close cooperation between the different projects and disciplines as well as with the manufacturing engineers.

You will be working as a member of Cosworth’s tight-knit engineering team across a range of projects and disciplines, including:

  • Design
  • Simulation & Analysis
  • Test & Development
  • Project Engineering

Cosworth’s Graduate Programme is focused on graduates who have, or expect to gain, a good class degree (2.1 or above) in a relevant engineering subject.

The graduate recruitment process starts in Spring.

The graduate interviews are mainly of a technical nature, so it’s a small interview panel consisting of two Senior Engineers. The format is:

  • Introductions
  • A general chat to find out about the candidate’s background, interests and aspirations
  • Some technical questions to see their approach to problem solving
  • Discussion of what the Graduate Engineer role at Cosworth consists of

It’s a two-way process, so there is plenty of opportunity for the candidate to quiz us on what life at Cosworth is like.


  • Good class degree (2.1 or above) in a relevant engineering subject or equivalent qualification.
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the operating principles of the internal combustion engine.
  • Able to interpret technical information to generate a logical series of actions based on the implementation of sound engineering practice.
  • Able to show an understanding of the commercial and manufacturing implications of engineering actions.
  • Able to communicate effectively on a technical level with other engineers, both within and external to Cosworth. This includes the compilation of written reports, verbal communications and presentations.
  • Have a good understanding of commonly used office software packages, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to organize own workload in an effective manner.
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to improving skills through relevant training and experience.
  • Have a passion for engineering and problem solving.
