SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• To deliver engineering objectives set by the Principal Engineer, Senior Engineer and/or specific engineering Project Leader, working either individually or as part of a project team.
• To support and carry out testing activities based the customer’s sites in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth.
• To support instrumentation and data logging installations on the test vessels.
• To author and/or follow vessel test procedures.
• To direct the work of technicians to ensure vessels are prepared and maintained to a high standard.
• Provide regular feedback and reports as necessary to keep department management fully informed of project status.
• To respond flexibly to requirements for changes in daily work plan, in light of prevailing weather conditions and boat operational status.
• Ensure that quality of work is compatible with the standards required within Cosworth and that all relevant standards are abided by.
• In addition to the above, the Engineer will be expected to fulfil any other reasonable requirement consistent with departmental objectives.
• Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTER:

• 3 or more years of relevant experience as a test or development engineer within the Marine/Motorsport/Automotive industry.
• Good class degree (2.1 or above) in a relevant engineering subject or equivalent qualification.
• Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the operating principles of the internal combustion engine, cooling systems, gearboxes and steering systems.
• Familiar with at least one data logging package to be able to programme the logger and present data.
• Familiar with the use and data interpretation of an ECU diagnostic tool.
• Able to interpret technical information to generate a logical series of actions based on the implementation of sound engineering practice.
• Able to show an understanding of the commercial and manufacturing implications of engineering actions.
• Able to communicate effectively on a technical level with other engineers, both within and external to Cosworth. This includes the compilation of written reports, oral communications and presentations.
• Able to organize own workload in an effective manner.
• Able to demonstrate a commitment to improving skills through relevant training and experience.
• Must be willing to work outdoors and at sea (daytime testing only) as required, on marine vessels of various types.

Due to the nature of the project and weather dependency, flexibility is critical.
