An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our components manufacturing team as an Apprentice, commencing September 2020.

This role is based within our powertrain division, Northampton. As a Cosworth Apprentice, you will be given the opportunity to work on exciting brands and projects as you learn your craft, studying toward a full apprenticeship framework.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate Manual Lathes & Milling Machines.
  • Operate CNC lathes & Milling Machines.
  • Basic NC programming on machine.
  • Use hand tools and measuring equipment.
  • Read and Interpret technical drawings.
  • Work with a range of materials including Aluminium, steel, various stainless steels and some exotic material.
  • Produce Components to tight tolerance’s from technical drawings.
  • Produce or modify Components for General use within the company.
  • Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
  • Use problem solving techniques to solve issues.
  • Perform all requested tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Adopt Good house Keeping practices.
  • Adhere to workplace, Quality and Health & Safety procedures.
  • Be committed to continuous improvement and suggest improvements regarding methods, processes and tooling.
  • In addition to the above, fulfil any other reasonable requirement consistent with departmental objectives.
  • Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 GCSEs, grades 9-4, including Maths, English and Science; or
  • attained an Extended Diploma or BTEC in Engineering.

APPRENTICESHIP FRAMEWORK

  • NVQ3 Extended Diploma.
  • Study towards a Level 3 Technical Certificate.
  • Working within the chosen skilled area to gain.
  • Functional skills (Maths, English and ICT).
  • Personal learning and critical thinking skills.
  • Employment rights and responsibilities practical experience of the industry.
