We produce over 40,000 forgings and 20,000 fully machined pistons p.a. to our customers’ designs. In our dedicated piston facility, our pistons are made to the highest quality levels (and often to tight deadlines) from forgings, machined billet 2618, 4032 or MMC.

CROWN DESIGN
Intruder, flat top or bowl style crown to suit either port or direct injection.
OPTIMISED UNDERCROWN DESIGN
Single prong or fully formed undercrown designs provide increased strength, durability and minimised piston mass.
PROFILED PIN BORE
To improve gudgeon pin reliability.
XYLAN/DLC COATED SKIRT
To reduce friction on piston skirt thrust faces.
SKIRT SCROLL
Unique design to aid oil retention.
GAS CONTROL FEATURES
Gas ported top ring and accumulator groove. To reduce blow by and aid sealing under high cylinder pressures.
OUR CUSTOMERS
Our pistons are utilised in a huge variety of different forms of motorsport. From the highest level of international car and motorcycle racing to historic and club level motorsport, our piston customers have won countless races and championships. Additionally, we work with major OEM customers designing and manufacturing pre-production prototype pistons in a variety of batch sizes. Typically these pistons are machined from billet to allow rapid testing of alternative skirt profiles, crown designs and other features.

With full traceability from raw material to finished piston, every Cosworth piston is produced to the highest quality and then laser etched for ease of identification. We rigorously adhere to ISO9001 and AS9100 quality standard and operate a fully audited supply chain. We also offer NDT and CMM inspection in-house.
MOTORSPORT PISTONS
From the highest levels of international car and motorcycle racing to club level motorsport, our pistons have won countless championships and accolades over the years including being the first Formula 1 piston that could be used at engine speeds in excess of 20,000 rpm.
CLASSIC AND HISTORIC PISTONS
No matter whether we are reproducing pistons to original designs using our 3D mapping and reverse engineering expertise or completely redesigning in order to reduce mass, enhance performance and improve reliability, we design and produce the best solution for numerous classic car restoration and racing customers.
AEROSPACE PISTONS
We have been supplying piston forgings to the Aerospace sector for many years. However, we also manufacture fully machined pistons for use in both historic and modern aero engines.
OEM PISTONS
We work with major OEMs designing and manufacturing pre-production prototype pistons in a variety of batch sizes. Typically these pistons are machined from billet to allow rapid testing of alternative skirt profiles, crown designs and other features. In addition, we also have the facility to manufacture large batch sizes of production pistons.
MMC PISTONS
We are a leader in MMC piston technology, having been involved in a large number of projects and extensive tooling and machining trials to understand MMC for pistons. Our MMC Pistons display: exceptional stiffness, high strength, high fatigue strength, high tensile strength at elevated temperatures and wear resistance.
