At Cosworth, our mission is to use our "Engineering Edge" to help our customers make things go further and faster, and deliver a better future.
The way we go about delivering solutions to customer problems is unique. The cornerstones of our methodology are practices developed over many years, initially in motorsport but since refined in projects in the Aerospace, Automotive and Defence markets.

Rapid Design & Implementation
As the motorsports saying goes, there is no point turning up with a winning car the morning after race day.
Our customers come to us with challenging problems that need a solution by a given deadline, and often that deadline is incompatible with the project methodologies used by traditional high-technology engineering companies.
For Cosworth, "rapid prototyping" isn't an optional extra. Our design methodology is based on rapid parallel iterations and improvement. This doesn't mean we take short cuts, compromise on quality or take chances by limiting testing.
End-to-End Solutions
The types of projects Cosworth is involved in are complex by nature. Hand-offs between different organisations in the supply chain (and even different departments within large organisations) are risky and consume time. The Cosworth approach reduces the number of hand-offs and by offering a one-stop shop for engineering design, test, manufacturing and support, we are able to reduce the project risk, duration and required budget while delivering a solution that just works.
Combining Science & Real-World Experience
Despite our focus on getting projects completed on time and to budget, we have a strong focus on science and the laws of engineering. Solutions always come from a thorough understanding of the behaviour and we choose "doing the right thing" (even if it is hard) over "quick fix" solutions that don't perform. A good example of this was our decision several years ago to base our Lightweight Heavy Fuel Engine technology on true compression ignition when our competitors opted for the quick fix approach of converting spark-ignited gasoline engines to run on diesel and other "heavy fuels".
Being focused on science is very different from being "academic". Everything Cosworth does is pragmatic, based on our real-world experience and designed to solve real customer problems.
